Bridging Musical Connections Across Distances

Norwegian singer Anna Lotterud, frontwoman of the band Anna of the North, has been making waves in the music industry with her soulful and captivating sound. Formed in 2014, the duo consisted of Lotterud and producer Brady Daniell-Smith. However, they decided to part ways in 2018 after releasing their debut album “Lovers.”

Lotterud, who retained the band name, has since embarked on a successful solo career, releasing two albums with self-penned tracks and collaborations with renowned international artists such as Tyler The Creator, Rex Orange County, and Dua Lipa. Her single “Dream Girl” was released in October 2019, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of live performances worldwide.

Despite the setbacks caused by the pandemic, Lotterud remained determined to connect with her fans. She recently held a series of concerts in Europe and the United States, and in response to vocal Filipino fans, she added a Philippine date to her upcoming tour of the Asia-Pacific region and Japan. Lotterud expressed her excitement about playing her songs and connecting with the audience in the Philippines.

Lotterud’s approach to writing music is characterized by honesty and a desire to allow listeners to relate to her songs without any preconceived notions. She wants her music to inspire people to create their own stories. As she approaches her 10th anniversary as a singer next year, Lotterud has overcome her stage fright and feels a sense of calm when performing, thanks to the chemistry she shares with her band.

In late 2020, Lotterud recorded her own version of Cher’s hit song “Believe,” giving it a distinct and deliberate interpretation. Reflecting on her growth as an artist, she feels more stable in all aspects of the music industry. However, she still looks back fondly on the early days of her career when she was able to write without worrying about others’ opinions.

Fans of Anna of the North can look forward to her “Crazy” concert at the Samsung Hall in Taguig on September 29, presented and produced by DMC Philippines. Tickets are available at smtickets.com.
