Easterlies bringing rain to southern Mindanao

Southern Mindanao to experience rains on Saturday due to easterlies – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announced that the southern portion of Mindanao will see rains on Saturday brought by the easterlies.

In an early morning forecast, Pagasa stated that the Davao Region and Sarangani will be particularly affected.

Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil explained, “The easterlies or warm air blowing from the Pacific Ocean continue to affect a large part of our country. We can see in our satellite images the thick clouds in the southeastern portion of Mindanao; it is the effect of the easterlies and could possibly bring rains today to a large part of southern Mindanao.”

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience hot and humid temperatures with chances of isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa also released the predicted temperature ranges for key cities and areas of the country for May 4.

Villamil emphasized that there are no gale warnings raised in any parts of the country’s seaboards. He advised caution for those sailing due to possible offshore thunderstorm activity that could bring strong winds and a slight increase in waves.
