Gunrunner Arrested in San Juan, Batangas
In a successful entrapment operation conducted on Wednesday morning, September 20, police apprehended a suspected gunrunner in Barangay Poblacion, San Juan, Batangas. The suspect, identified as Pableo Macaraig, was taken into custody by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Batangas.
The operation unfolded when Macaraig sold a caliber 9mm and a caliber .45 pistol, along with magazines and ammunition, to an undercover police officer posing as a buyer. The transaction was swiftly carried out, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
Macaraig is currently being held by the CIDG-Batangas, as he faces charges for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act (Republic Act 10591) and the Commission on Elections gun ban, which is in effect for the upcoming barangay elections next month.
