CPNP Gives Award to Two Wounded Cops

Philippine National Police Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr visited the two wounded police officers who both sustained gunshot wounds during an armed encounter with members of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in San Remigio, Antique on December 11, 2022.

PNP Chief PGen Azurin together with Police Lieutenant General Rhodel O Sermonia, The Deputy Chief PNP for Administration, Police Lieutenant General Patrick Villacorte, Commander, Area Police Command-Visayas, Police Major General Jesus D Cambay Jr and Police Brigadier General Leo M Francisco, Regional Director, Police Regional Office 6 visited the two valiant officers who are currently under medication at Qualimed Hospital in Iloilo City.

Police Corporal Jomer Clamor Yamuyam and Patrolman Danmer Dela Cruz were awarded of Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting (PNP Wounded Medal) by the PNP Chief himself, while financial assistance was also given to their respective families.

The patrol operations conducted was in response to the report of the presence of CTGs in the area that reportedly creating vandalism at the Green House, a government owned vegetable plantation.

According to report, upon arrival of the responding team in the area, more or less 16 CTG members with long firearms engaged in armed encounter with the PNP personnel wherein PCpl Yamuyam and Pat Cruz suffered injuries. They were immediately brought to nearest hospital and is now in stable condition.

PGen Azurin thanked the two police officers for courageously fulfilling their sworn mandate — to serve and protect our country and people, against all forms of lawlessness.

“Ipinapaabot natin ang ating pasasalamat sa kagitingang ipinakita ng ating dalawang pulis na bagamat nasugatan ay nakahanda pa ring ipaglaban ang ating bayan laban sa kasamaan at karahasan. Saludo ako sa kanilang angking katapangan, at nawa’y magsilbing inspirasyon ito upang mas lalo pa silang maging matatag sa kanilang sinumpaang tungkulin”, PGen Azurin said.
