Breastmilk Letting Activity and Family Planning Caravan Held in Valenzuela City

Valenzuela City, Philippines – The Valenzuela City government organized a breastmilk letting activity and family planning caravan for mothers and residents on Wednesday, August 30. The event, held at the WES Events Space in Barangay Dalandanan, was in collaboration with the Quezon City General Hospital Human Milk Bank and commemorated National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.

Approximately 120 participants attended the breastmilk letting activity, showing support for breastfeeding mothers and their infants. The event received sponsorships from various organizations, including the Rotary Club of Valenzuela, Yakult Philippines, J. Chemie Laboratories Inc., Prosel Pharma, and Metropolitan Pharma.

During the activity, participants shared their experiences and knowledge about breastfeeding. They also received rice packs from the Quezon City General Hospital Human Milk Bank. Valenzuela City Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian’s wife, Tiffany Gatchalian, offered a P2,000 reward to the participant who donated the highest volume of breastmilk.

Simultaneously, a Family Planning Caravan was conducted at the 3S Center Lingunan. The participants received lectures about various topics, such as breast and cervical cancer, HIV awareness, and modern family planning methods. They also had the opportunity to visit family planning booths offering educational materials and resources.

The initiative showcased the city’s commitment to the comprehensive welfare of families in Valenzuela City. “It is very hard to raise and take care of many children, that is why we launched the Family Planning Caravan to take care of the Pamilyang Valenzuelano. We do this because you never know, maybe your children will be the next city health officer, the one who will replace me, that is because you are taking good care of your children,” stated city health officer Dr. Marthony Basco.

The events served as testaments to Valenzuela City’s dedication to prioritizing the health and well-being of every Pamilyang Valenzuelano. The activities not only promoted unity within the community but also provided valuable resources to help families make informed decisions regarding their health and family planning requirements.
