Rocco Nacino and Yasmien Kurdi Unveil Their Experiences with Scammers

Kapuso actors Rocco Nacino and Yasmien Kurdi shared their experiences as victims of fraudsters who scammed them out of their hard-earned money. The revelation came during a recent Zoom session for their new series, “The Missing Husband,” set to premiere on August 28. In light of their encounters, Rocco and Yasmien offered advice to the public, urging them to exercise caution and sound judgment when investing their money.

During the session, Rocco, 36, emphasized the need for vigilance in dealing with scams. He shared that he had been a victim of scams in the past, with several attempts to locate the perpetrator proving futile. Rocco urged others to be skeptical and always follow up before giving any money. He noted that despite the ease of saying no to scams, many people still fall prey to get-rich-quick schemes. Rocco acknowledged that the pandemic had provided ample opportunities for scammers to take advantage of vulnerable individuals, resulting in numerous victims.

Yasmien, 34, also spoke about her experience with scams, although she did not lose millions like some others. Instead, she shared a story of being deceived by a contractor who promised to construct her house but delivered subpar work. Yasmien expressed her frustration at encountering such unscrupulous individuals and emphasized the importance of being responsible in one’s work. She also highlighted the emotional and financial toll scams can have, citing cases where extramarital affairs led to the loss of savings and the breakdown of families. Yasmien advised against such actions and urged individuals not to betray their loved ones’ trust.

“The Missing Husband” revolves around the story of married couple Anton (Rocco Nacino) and Millie (Yasmien Kurdi), who leave the Philippines to work as overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Qatar. They hope to earn enough money to secure their future, but their plans take a turn when Millie becomes pregnant. The couple tries to start anew back in the Philippines and invests their life savings in a promising opportunity, only to discover it is a scam. This revelation leads to conflict in their marriage, exacerbated by death threats Anton receives from those he invited to the fraudulent investment. The series explores the hardships faced by OFWs and the prevalence of scams in the country.

Mark Reyes, the director of the series, emphasized its relevance to real-life situations faced by OFWs and the wider population. He highlighted the heartbreaking reality of individuals who worked hard abroad, only to be deceived and betrayed by their fellow Filipinos. Reyes noted the ripple effect of scams, tearing families apart and causing internal conflicts. While “The Missing Husband” provides entertainment, it also aims to shed light on these important societal issues.

Rocco and Yasmien’s experiences serve as a warning to the public to be vigilant and cautious when dealing with investment opportunities. They encourage thorough research, seeking advice from others, and carefully considering the risks involved. By sharing their stories, Rocco and Yasmien hope to prevent others from falling victim to scams and protect their hard-earned money.
