Gina Alajar and Ricky Davao, two highly acclaimed actors, have defied age stereotypes by becoming the lead loveteam in their own movie. The duo, known for their numerous awards, never imagined that they would be chosen to star in a film that explores the possibilities of love for people their age.
“Who would have thought that Ricky and I would be selected to headline a movie about the prospects of our fellow seniors?” Gina exclaims with laughter. Gina, a recipient of Famas and Urian awards for her outstanding performances in films like “Brutal,” “Moral,” and “Salome,” has also gained recognition as a television director.
Likewise, Ricky Davao, another award-winning actor, shares the same sentiment. “I used to be busy because I also directed television shows. But guess what? They waited for me,” Ricky chuckles. “Everyone should watch this film because it’s about time that storylines like this give mature actors the spotlight they deserve, given what we can bring to the table.”
In the Net25 Films production titled “Monday First Screening,” Gina and Ricky portray senior citizens who find love in each other. The film is set to be released in over 100 cinemas on Aug. 30.
During an episode of “Korina Interviews,” host Korina Sanchez-Roxas expresses her fascination with individuals who have real stories to share. “We will once again discover and learn so much from our conversations with Gina and Ricky,” says Korina. The episode will air this Sunday at 5 pm on NET 25. “Korina Interviews” is one of the network’s most-watched programs.
