President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Urges PAGCOR to Shape Responsible Gaming and Maintain Social Relevance

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. urged the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) to uphold its commitment in combating illegal activities and promoting responsible practices within the gaming industry, while remaining socially relevant. Speaking at the 40th anniversary celebration of PAGCOR, President Marcos emphasized the need for the organization to shape the gaming landscape with integrity, responsibility, and a strong stance against illicit activities.

Recognizing PAGCOR’s substantial contributions to nation-building, particularly in the areas of tourism, job creation, social services for marginalized sectors, and support for government programs, President Marcos expressed optimism for the corporation’s future. He acknowledged the remarkable impact PAGCOR has made in society and called on the organization to maintain its position as a leading force in the gaming industry. President Marcos highlighted the abundant resources available to PAGCOR and urged them to set new standards, ensuring both financial success and a positive social impact.

Referring to the dedicated individuals working at PAGCOR, President Marcos commended their unwavering commitment to service, excellence, and integrity. He encouraged them to continue leaving a lasting impression not only within the gaming industry but throughout society as a whole.

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco revealed that the agency’s Contributions to Nation Building (CNB) reached approximately Php607 billion over the past four decades, with Php64 billion in dividend remittances since 2011. During the Marcos Administration, PAGCOR’s CNB totaled Php45 billion, and the agency aims to achieve Php70 billion by year-end.

PAGCOR has implemented various programs, including the construction of classrooms and multi-purpose evacuation centers, as well as providing financial assistance to institutions, government offices, and individuals. The corporation also contributes to the funding of programs such as Universal Health Care, the Philippines Sports Commission, and the Dangerous Drugs Board.
