Nueva Ecija Dominates Novaliches with a 96-74 Victory in PSL Presidents’ Cup

On Wednesday, Dec. 20, Nueva Ecija ended the year on a high note with a decisive 96-74 victory over Novaliches in the PSL Presidents’ Cup at the FilOil EcoOil Arena in San Juan.

The Capitals, also known as the Rice Vanguards in the MPBL, maintained their undefeated record after seven games, heading into the league’s holiday break with an impressive performance.

Nueva Ecija established a commanding lead early in the game, ending the first quarter with a 27-16 advantage and extending it to as much as 32 points in the following quarters.

Bobby Balucanag led the charge for the Capitals with 15 points and six rebounds, while Emman Calo contributed 12 points, four assists, and two steals. The team showcased its depth with seven players scoring at least six points in the game.

Axel Doromal also contributed double-digit points with 10, and Robby Celiz and Roi Sumang added eight and seven points, respectively. Billy Ray Robles, Harvey Pagsanjan, Nat Cosejo, and Jay Collado all finished with six points each.

Head coach Jerson Cabiltes emphasized the importance of staying in shape during the holiday season, acknowledging the strength of other unbeaten teams in the league.

Deo Timajo was the lone standout for Novaliches, scoring 22 points with four three-pointers.

The victory solidified Nueva Ecija’s position as a formidable force in the PSL Presidents’ Cup, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of the season.
