Mary J. Blige and Cher Inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Mary J. Blige, Cher, Ozzy Osbourne, and several other musicians have been officially inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This diverse class of inductees includes artists such as A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, and Dave Matthews Band. The induction ceremony is set to take place on October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The event will be streamed live on Disney+ and will air on ABC at a later date, with availability on Hulu the following day.

Among the artists nominated but not included this year were Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, and Sade. The push to include Foreigner in the hall saw support from music industry figures like Mark Ronson and Paul McCartney. Notably, Ozzy Osbourne will be inducted as a solo artist in addition to his previous induction with the band Black Sabbath.

The inclusion of Cher and Mary J. Blige aims to increase the representation of women in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which has been a point of criticism in recent years. The selection process involved voting by artists, historians, and music professionals, as well as input from fans through online and in-person voting.

Last year’s inductees included Missy Elliott, Willie Nelson, and Sheryl Crow, among others. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame continues to honor music legends and their lasting contributions to the industry.
