GMA Public Affairs has recently released its first-ever film production entitled “The Cheating Game,” directed by Rod Marmol and starring the popular “JulieVer” tandem of Julie Anne San Jose and Rayver Cruz. The movie explores the consequences of infidelity and its impact on relationships in the modern world of social media and influencers.

The story revolves around content creator Hope Celestial (played by Julie Anne San Jose), who has just experienced a heartbreak after her ex-boyfriend Brian Villogo (Martin del Rosario) is involved in a leaked sex video with another woman. However, Hope’s world takes a turn when she meets Miguel Agustin (Rayver Cruz) on an unexpected encounter on Edsa.

Despite the rough edges of the production, the film effectively utilizes its personable cast to tell a relatable story for young viewers who are heavily invested in social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram Stories. Beauty queen Winwyn Marquez also joins the main cast as Vanessa, adding another layer of complexities to Hope’s love story.

In an exclusive interview, the director and four lead stars shared their insights on love and infidelity. Director Rod explained that the film aims to start a conversation about the pain of heartbreak and how it affects individuals’ perceptions of themselves and their relationships. He emphasized that dealing with infidelity can be a measure of one’s intelligence and growth in all aspects of life.

The actors also shared their personal experiences and advice. Rayver cautioned viewers not to be deceived by first impressions and revealed that his character, Miguel, plays a pivotal role in the film’s exploration of infidelity. Julie Anne related to her character’s naiveté and idealism, emphasizing the importance of self-love and surrounding oneself with genuine people after experiencing betrayal.

Each actor also gave advice to their younger selves regarding heartbreak and infidelity. Rayver advised himself to be patient and assured his younger self that Julie Anne would eventually enter his life. Julie Anne reassured her teenage self that everything would be okay and encouraged her not to be afraid of love. Martin emphasized the importance of valuing oneself and not blaming oneself for someone else’s actions, while Winwyn stressed the significance of self-love and knowing one’s worth.
