La Salle Lady Spikers Claim Victory in Shakey’s Super League National Invitationals

The La Salle Lady Spikers emerged triumphant in the Shakey’s Super League National Invitationals after defeating Adamson in a winner-take-all Game 3. The match took place on Sunday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Despite winning Game 2 just 24 hours before, La Salle assistant coach Noel Orcullo urged his team to continue showcasing their skills. The Lady Spikers responded to the call, dominating the Lady Falcons with a final score of 25-19, 25-22, 25-17.

The victory marked La Salle’s second championship in 2023, solidifying their status as the UAAP champions. The team displayed their prowess on the court, even without rookie MVP Angel Canino and libero Justine Jazareno. Shevana Laput stepped up and delivered a consistent scoring performance throughout the tournament.

The Lady Spikers, together with their holdovers Thea Gagate, Alleiah Malaluan, Amie Provido, and new starting setter Julia Coronel, secured the school’s second title after a five-year championship drought in UAAP Season 85. This win also marked their first Shakey’s Super League crown, surpassing their runner-up finish in the previous season’s preseason tournament.

La Salle overcame a series comeback after a tough loss in Game 1. They rallied to win Game 2 and forced a decider, ultimately dominating Adamson in the final match.

The team’s triumph showcases their determination and skill, solidifying their position as one of the top volleyball teams in the country.
