Japanese contractor Taisei Corp. makes investment in PetroGreen Unit



A major partnership was announced between Taisei Corporation, a leading general contractor in Japan, and PetroGreen Energy Corporation (PGEC), a company led by the Yuchengco Group. The agreement involves Taisei Corporation acquiring a 25% equity stake in PGEC’s subsidiary, Rizal Green Energy Corporation (RGEC).

Taisei Corporation, with a history dating back to 1873, is known for its construction of various infrastructure projects worldwide. The company’s investment will specifically focus on the funding, construction, and operation of four solar power facilities in the Philippines.

This partnership marks Taisei Corporation’s first equity investment in renewable energy outside Japan. Executives from both Taisei Corporation and PGEC expressed enthusiasm about collaborating on this project and highlighted the potential for further cooperation in the future.

PGEC Chair Milagros Reyes mentioned that Taisei Corporation’s decision to invest in the Philippines showcases the country’s attractiveness for renewable energy projects.
