P8.5-m Ecstacy Party Drugs Seized in Laguna

Government authorities intercepted a large shipment of suspected psychoactive designer drug or commonly known as Ecstasy during a controlled delivery operation on Wednesday afternoon in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

Philippine National Police Chief, Police General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr announced the arrest of JOY BAUTISTA a.k.a. Aira Almonte in a joint operation conducted by operatives of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Group (NAIA- IADITG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) IV-A, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) and 1V-A, Philpost- Inspectorate in coordination with Sta Rosa City Police Station at Caltex Gasoline Station, beside Merryland Subdivision, along Brgy. Dita, Santa Rosa, Laguna at around 3:30 in the afternoon.

Seized from Bautista were one (1) inbound parcel containing more or less 5,032 pieces of pink tablets suspected to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) or Ecstasy with an estimated street value of PhP8,554,400.00, one Blue Clip Board, one Parcel Receipt Form; one fake school ID; one postal ID; one BIR TIN Card, and one Redmi cellular phone.

“I commend the successful joint anti-illegal drug operation conducted by our operatives from NAIA- IADITG, PDEA and PNP in Laguna with the supervision of PBGen Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr, Regional Director, PRO4A which only proves of our unyielding commitment to curb the illegal drug situation in the country”, PGen Azurin said.

Meanwhile, Police Colonel Redrico A Maranan, Acting Chief, Public Information Office warned the public against using party drugs especially during this yuletide season where night concerts and parties are common.

“Mahigpit po nating pinapa-alalahanan ang lahat na umiwas po tayo sa mga ganitong gawain gaya ng paggamit ng party drugs sapagkat wala itong magandang maidulot sa katawan at ilalagay lamang nila sa kapahamakan ang kanilang mga sarili oras na nasa impluwenysa na sila ng bawal na gamut na ito” PCol Maranan reminded.

The suspect and the confiscated items were brought to PDEA IV-A for documentation and proper disposition, while appropriate charges for violation of Section 4 (importation of illegal drugs) of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act) and RA No.10863 or Customs Modernization and Tariff Act will be filed by the Task Group against the arrested person.
