Grab Philippines confident in the reliability of its mobility services during holiday rush

Grab Philippines Activates 4,000 Additional GrabCar Driver-Partners for Holiday Rush

In anticipation of the holiday rush, Grab Philippines recently activated an additional 4,000 GrabCar driver-partners to improve service reliability. This move comes as part of Grab’s proactive implementation of mobility solutions aimed at optimizing fleet utilization to guarantee that every GrabCar on the road is maximized.

Ronald Roda, Chief Operating Officer of Grab Philippines, pointed to historical data showing the annual increase in demand during the holidays. Grab consistently observes a notable increase in demand for its mobility services during the holiday season. GrabCar demand is expected to increase by at least 20% in December 2023, with a spike of up to +45% in the 2nd and 3rd week. To address the potential challenge of supply allocation, Grab is implementing a vehicle maximization strategy.

Roda emphasized that the experience of passengers, consumers, and partners is Grab’s utmost priority. Leveraging data, platform, and technology, Grab works proactively to understand and address challenges faced by stakeholders, ensuring a worry-free holiday season for all Filipinos.

Grab has also activated an array of mobility solutions to optimize the utilization of its GrabCar fleet. This includes the relaunch of GrabShare, which matches passengers headed in the same direction to share a single vehicle, as well as the introduction of GrabAirport for reliable airport bookings and Multi-Taxi Type (MTT) booking to cater to time-constrained passengers.

In collaboration with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Grab has been growing its driver pool to achieve equilibrium between demand and supply on the platform. This year, Grab was able to grow its fleet by 40%, and in time for the Christmas rush, 4,000 new driver-partners have been activated from the most recent LTFRB pool.

Additionally, homegrown two-wheel ride-hailing company MOVE IT, in partnership with Grab, is positioned to address the holiday commuter demand for safe and efficient transportation. MOVE IT maintains a 99.999% road safety record and offers a wide roster of safety features through its app.

As the holiday season approaches, Grab and its partner MOVE IT are committed to ensuring reliable and safe transportation for all commuters.
