New Series “Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko” Explores the Dilemma of Holding On or Giving Up

A new series titled “Kung Hindi Lang Tayo Sumuko” (KHLTS) is set to stream on Viva One soon, bringing to light the age-old question of whether to hold on or give up in a relationship. Based on the bestseller by Marcelo Santos III, the show features an all-star cast including Coleen Garcia, Carlo Aquino, Ryza Cenon, Kiko Estrada, Rhen Escaño, Jerome Ponce, and is directed by Carlo Catu. The series serves as a masterclass in the art of letting go.

The cast members shared their thoughts on relationships and the value of commitment. Coleen Garcia confessed that she used to easily give up on her relationships, but after marrying Billy, she learned the importance of commitment. Carlo Aquino disagreed with the notion that women are solely responsible for the success of a relationship, emphasizing the importance of give and take. Cesar Montano is thrilled to be part of the remake of the 1993 film, “Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan Ang Nakaraan” (MPNHAN), directed by the late Marilou Diaz-Abaya, whom he deeply admires. The 2023 version of MPNHAN is now a series airing on TV5, starring Cristine Reyes and Marco Gumabao alongside Montano. As he approaches his 61st birthday on August 1, Montano reflects on his journey and embraces the present while looking forward to a better future.

Montano addressed the potential awkwardness of playing Cristine Reyes’ husband while her real-life boyfriend, Marco Gumabao, is also in the cast. He emphasized that he remains focused on his work and doesn’t let personal dynamics interfere.

In a previous movie, Montano portrayed Cristine Reyes’ father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr. Now, he takes on the role of her husband. Montano humorously pondered whether he was better at being a father or a husband, ultimately acknowledging that Cristine played the role of Imee Marcos, the best maid in Malacañang.

In the six-part series “Deadly Love,” viewers are reminded to be cautious not only of strangers but also of those within their inner circles. Directed by Derick Cabrido, the show stars Jaclyn Jose, Louise delos Reyes, Marco Gumabao, and McCoy De Leon, and explores a dangerous fam scam.

Derick Cabrido revealed that he often watches anime and Disney content to set a positive mood before shooting.
