Program officers from the DSWD Region 10 together with Matungao Municipal Mayor Jaber M. Azis, M.D. deliver a PHP100,000 cash incentive to 104-year old Mrs. Laongan C. Abantas from barangay Batangan, Matungao, Lanao del Norte on October 3, 2022.
Mrs. Laongan C. Abantas is entitled to the Php 100,000 cash gift under the centenarian program of the national government’s Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Mayor Jaber personally went to see Mrs. Laongan C. Abantas at the Mercy Community Hospital in Iligan City, as the centenarian is about to be admitted in the hospital for medical attention. The centenarian was accompanied by her daughter in the hospital admission, who also assisted in the release of the incentive. Mrs. Abantas is the first awardee to date this year 2022 in the entire region 10.
According to Mrs. Abantas daughter, her mother withstood living through the years by keeping a healthy lifestyle.
For the information of all concern, RA 10868 otherwise known as “CENTENARIAN ACT OF 2016” is an act honoring and granting additional benefits and privileges to Filipino centenarians and for other purposes. Centenarian is all Filipinos who have reached one hundred years old and above.
