Paved Access Road

Paved Access Road Links Communities in San Miguel, Iloilo

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) recently constructed a concrete road that will improve accessibility between barangays in San Miguel, Iloilo.

Implemented by DPWH Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office, the paved road now better connects upland communities of San Miguel, particularly Sitio Lanag in Barangay Sta. Cruz and Sitio Pinamuna in Barangay Consolacion.

The P30.38 million project involves the construction of a 3.05-kilometer portland concrete cement pavement road with stone masonry and provision of road signs and pavement markings as safety features.

DPWH Regional Office 6 Director Nerie D. Bueno mentioned that other than easing local trade between the two (2) barangays, the newly-concreted access road also facilitates better access to basic services in remote areas of the town and hastens delivery of agricultural products from farms to the market.

“Farming and other agricultural activities are the main sources of income in these barangays. With the concrete road, local farmers and residents in San Miguel no longer have to travel through muddy and dusty roads, thereby reducing the hauling cost of their products,” said Director Bueno.
