Actress Park Eun-bin and actor Lee Je-hoon have been chosen as the hosts for the opening ceremony of the 28th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). The announcement was made by organizers on August 27, revealing that the ceremony will take place on October 4 at the Busan Cinema Center.

Park Eun-bin and Lee Je-hoon, who previously starred together in the 2014 drama “Secret Door,” will lead the star-studded event attended by celebrities, directors, and VIPs from the entertainment industry.

The BIFF, one of Asia’s most significant film festivals, recently unveiled the film and series selections for the “Korean Cinema Today-Special Premiere” and “On Screen” sections of the festival.

In addition, Filipino producer Bianca Balbuena has been selected as a member of the BIFF’s Sonje Award jury, which recognizes the best Korean and Asian short films in the Wide Angle section. Balbuena, the managing director of Kroma Entertainment’s Anima, has an impressive portfolio including Sundance Awardee “Leonor Will Never Die” (2022) and Emmy-nominated “The Missing 8” (2021). She co-founded Epicmedia, which has produced Berlinale Silver Bear winner “A Lullaby To The Sorrowful Mystery” (2016) and Venice Lion of the Future recipient “Engkwentro” (2009).

Moreover, Balbuena has received accolades such as the Asian Film Commissions Network’s Producer of the Year and the youngest winner of the FIAPF Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. She has also served as a jury member at various film festivals, including the Sydney Film Festival and Fribourg International Film Festival.

The 28th BIFF will be held in Busan, South Korea, from October 4 to October 13. Two winning movies will be awarded 10 million won each.
