What hosts of ‘It’s Showtime’ prayed for before moving to new home on GMA 7

A popular noontime variety show, “It’s Showtime,” has found a new home on the turf of its former rival network, GMA 7. The cast of the show learned of this news only a week before the transition. After the contract signing on March 20, the long-running show is set to air on GMA 7, Mondays to Saturdays, starting April 6.

The hosts of “It’s Showtime” boarded a glittery float from ABS-CBN’s Sgt. Esguerra gate towards GMA 7’s main entrance on Timog Avenue, where they were warmly welcomed by cheering Kapuso employees and executives. The move comes after the show faced challenges following the nonrenewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise in 2020.

Vice Ganda expressed gratitude towards GMA for the opportunity, describing the deal as “massive and transformative.” The partnership is expected to boost the show’s ratings, according to GMA’s representatives. ABS-CBN executives including Carlo L. Katigbak attended the event to show appreciation for the collaboration.

With the show now airing on GMA 7, in addition to GTV, A2Z, and other platforms, viewers can expect more collaborative efforts between ABS-CBN and GMA that will benefit the audience. This move signifies the end of the network wars as both networks come together for mutual benefit.
