Train Operations on LRT and MRT to Stop During Holy Week

Several railways in Metro Manila will be suspending operations during the upcoming Holy Week for maintenance activities. The Light Rail Transit line 1 (LRT-1) will temporarily halt operations from March 27 to March 31, while LRT line 2 (LRT-2) will stop running from March 28 to March 31. Likewise, the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) will not be operating from March 28 to March 31.

The closures are necessary for the annual preventive maintenance activities and mandatory testing related to the Alstom signaling system for the LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project. All railways are expected to resume operations on April 1.

In preparation for the Holy Week, the National Capital Region Police Office has announced plans to deploy over 11,300 police officers across Metro Manila starting March 25 to enhance public safety. During this time, many Filipinos either travel back to their home provinces or participate in religious activities such as “visita iglesia” or visiting churches.
