The Lady Spikers prevail in 5-set battle against the Lady Warriors



The La Salle Lady Spikers emerged victorious in a hard-fought match against the University of the East Lady Red Warriors at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Despite missing Angel Canino, the defending champions were able to secure a win with Thea Gagate and Shevana Laput leading the charge with 22 and 21 points, respectively.

In a five-set thriller, La Salle found themselves ahead in the fifth set, but UE mounted a comeback to make it a close battle. Ultimately, La Salle sealed the win with a final score of 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 22-25, 15-12.

The performance of super rookie Casiey Dongallo helped UE take the second set, but La Salle managed to bounce back and secure the victory. With the win, La Salle now shares the top spot with UST Golden Tigresses with a 9-1 record, while UE drops to 2-8.

Cepada led the scoring for the Lady Red Warriors with 23 points, while Dongallo contributed 20. Despite the absence of Canino, La Salle’s Malaluan, Provido, and Larroza stepped up to contribute 12, 11, and 10 points, respectively.
