President Marcos urges Congress to pass amendments to the Retail Trade Liberalization Act

President Marcos has renewed his call to Congress to pass an amendment to the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL) to restore the price stabilization and supply regulation functions of the National Food Authority (NFA). In an interview in Koronadal City, Marcos emphasized the need to control the price of rice, which has been increasing rapidly.

The House recently approved a measure seeking amendments to the RTL, which would allow the NFA to purchase local milled rice, buy a percentage brought in by accredited importers, and as a last resort, directly import rice if domestic sources have been exhausted. The amendment is expected to reduce the price of rice by P10 to P15 per kilogram.

On another note, Marcos pushed through with the distribution of land titles to agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in Mindanao, despite bad weather. He distributed over 4,900 land titles and provided assistance to farmers in Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay. Additionally, Marcos turned over farming tools and equipment worth more than P15 million to support ARBs.

The President also led the distribution of electronic titles and certificates of land ownership award to ARBs in Region 12. He stated his commitment to continue distributing land titles to all ARBs until completion.
