Mitsubishi Launches the All-New 2024 Triton (Strada) – A Bold Evolution in Pick-Up Design and Performance

Mitsubishi has officially launched the highly anticipated all-new Triton (also known as Strada) in Thailand after months of anticipation and teasers. This marks the sixth generation of the Triton, which is the first fully redesigned pick-up by Mitsubishi in nine years.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton (Strada) boasts several significant upgrades, including a completely new design language, an improved and cleaner diesel engine, and a revamped platform with enhanced suspension.

The design of the all-new Triton showcases what Mitsubishi refers to as the “Beast Mode” design, capturing a spirit of wild and audacious intensity. The front fascia has undergone a reworked Dynamic Shield design, giving it a bold and aggressive appearance. The sides display more sculpted lines, while the rear design retains some familiarity from the previous generation.

Underneath, the Triton features a new ladder frame platform with 60 percent higher torsional rigidity and 40 percent higher bending rigidity. The front suspension incorporates a double wishbone independent system, while the rear includes leaf springs and thicker shock absorbers. The steering system has been upgraded to electric, though drum brakes are retained for both front and rear wheels.

Inside the vehicle, Mitsubishi has made significant changes, with a particular focus on improving shoulder and knee room. The result is a plethora of storage options, such as a floor console box and upper glove box. The driver benefits from a 7-inch multi-information display, while the central console boasts a 9-inch infotainment screen equipped with a 360-degree camera function, smartphone connectivity, mirroring capabilities, and Mitsubishi Connected Services, allowing owners to control the vehicle from their smartphones.

Powering the Triton is the 2.4-liter clean diesel MIVEC engine (4N16) available in three power outputs: 150 horsepower and 330 Nm, 184 horsepower and 430 Nm, and 204 horsepower and 470 Nm. The engine can be paired with either a shift-by-wire 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual. The Super Select 4WD-II system allows seamless shifting between 4WD and 2WD, and a central locking differential enhances traction. A torque-sensing limited-slip differential allows for a split of up to 40 percent to the front or 60 percent to the rear. Additionally, seven selectable drive modes (Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock) and Active Yaw Control further enhance driving versatility.

Safety features have also been upgraded in the all-new Triton, with Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing (MMSS) offering Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Automatic High Beam, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Mitigation, and more.

The 2024 Mitsubishi Triton (Strada) will initially be available for purchase in Thailand and is confirmed to launch in other ASEAN countries in the coming months.
