Marian Rivera flaunts a natural look for her role in ‘Balota’

Kapuso primetime queen Marian Rivera has recently shared a first look at her character in the upcoming Cinemalaya 2024 film entry, “Balota.” Rivera, known for her glamorous roles, showcased a deglamorized appearance as Teacher Emily, complete with bruises and stains on her uniform, hinting at a compelling storyline.

In a post on her Instagram channel, Rivera expressed her excitement for the project, emphasizing the raw and unfiltered portrayal of her character. Fans quickly praised her versatility and beauty, despite the drastic change in appearance for this particular role.

Following the success of her mainstream movie in the Metro Manila Film Festival 2023, Rivera takes on a new challenge in the independent film department with her starring role in “Balota.” The film, directed by Kip Oebanda, follows the story of Emmy, a teacher caught up in election-related violence, who must protect crucial ballot box documents.

“Balota” also marks the big-screen debut of content creators Sassa Gurl and Esnyr, featuring a stellar ensemble cast including Will Ashley, Royce Cabrera, and several other talented actors. The film is set to premiere at the Cinemalaya Film Festival from August 2 to 11.

Rivera continues to captivate audiences on both the big screen and television, currently starring in the teleserye “My Guardian Alien.”
