Samsung’s newest addition to the foldable lineup, the Galaxy Z Fold5, is now available for purchase.
Display
The Fold5 features a stunning pair of Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, just like its predecessor, the Fold4. The cover display spans 6.2 inches, while the inner display measures 7.6 inches, both offering vibrant colors with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Notably, the peak brightness has been improved to 1,750 nits, a significant upgrade from last year’s 1,300 nits.
Build and Construction
With an enhanced hinge design similar to the Z Flip5, the Fold5 boasts a thinner profile, measuring only 13.4mm when folded, resulting in a seamless device without any noticeable gaps. Moreover, it has shed some weight, now weighing 253g, which is 10g lighter than its predecessor. The overall build quality is excellent, and customers can choose from three standard colors: Icy Blue, Phantom Black, and Cream, while Samsung.com offers additional options in Platinum and Blue.
Performance
The Galaxy Z Fold5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Made for Galaxy processor, ensuring smooth performance. To enhance thermals, Samsung has incorporated a 38% larger vapor chamber. Users can opt for models with 12GB of memory and storage options ranging from 256GB to 1TB.
Software
Running on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1, the Fold5’s software is optimized for productivity-focused tasks and workflows. Multitasking with multiple windows and the camera app’s helpful optimizations for the Fold make it a pleasure to use.
Cameras
The Fold5 features a triple camera setup on the rear, comprising a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 50MP main sensor with OIS, and a 10MP telephoto lens, also equipped with OIS and serving as the 3x zoom. On the cover display, there’s a 10MP front-facing camera, while the unfolded device hides a 4MP under-display camera. Photos taken with the device are sharp and detailed, thanks to Samsung’s latest photo processing algorithm, which is found in the latest Galaxy S handsets.

The Galaxy Z Fold5 will be available for purchase on August 18, 2023, starting at a local SRP of PHP 98,990 for the 256GB variant, PHP 105,990 for the 512GB variant, and PHP 119,990 for the exclusive 1TB variant available only on Samsung.com.
