First-ever Women’s Futsal World Cup to be Hosted by the Philippines



The first-ever FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup is set to kick off in the Philippines, according to the football federation. The inaugural tournament will take place next year in the country, with the host team automatically qualifying.

A total of 16 teams will participate in the competition, with three teams from the Asian Football Confederation, two from the Confederation of African Football, and two from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football. Additionally, three teams from the CONMEBOL Libertadores, one team from the Oceania Football Confederation, and four teams from UEFA will also compete in Manila.

The teams will be drawn into four groups of four, with two from each group advancing to the knockout phase. This stage will include the quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place playoff, and final matches.

Futsal, as described by UEFA, is an indoor football game played by two teams with five players on each side.
