DOH highlights urgency to destigmatize HIV/AIDS, underscores need for collaborative efforts

The Department of Health (DOH) emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS and highlighted the urgency of destigmatizing the disease in this year’s celebration of World AIDS Day.

During a gala event held on Dec. 1, the DOH underscored the urgent need to eradicate the stigma associated with the disease and focused on the theme, “Let the Communities Lead. Sama Sama Tayo sa Laban Kontra HIV.”

Corporate social responsibility also took the spotlight, with key sponsors pledging unwavering support to the Philippine National AIDS Council’s (PNAC) advocacy. PNAC committee members reiterated their commitment to shaping a future where those affected by HIV experience positive change.

The DOH noted that the event’s success resonates with the nation’s determination to eliminate stigma, steering towards a future where every individual receives the care they deserve.

During the event, 300 individuals gathered in a collective commitment against HIV/AIDS.

The event was spearheaded by Undersecretary Francie Laxamana and Executive Director Dr. Jose Feliciano, along with the dynamic PNAC Secretariat.

The DOH stated that the gala served as a beacon of hope in the fight against HIV/AIDS, echoing a resounding message of unity and commitment.
