Cristine Baron’s ‘Dearly Beloved’ puts a modern twist on Vilma-Christopher’s classic ‘Relasyon’

Baron Geisler and Cristine Reyes are set to star in the relationship drama “Dearly Beloved,” inspired by the classic 1982 film “Relasyon” starring Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon. The movie delves into the complexities of blended families, a theme that resonates with both the actors and the director, Marla Ancheta.

In “Dearly Beloved,” Baron plays Deo, while Cristine takes on the role of Shel. The story follows their journey as they fall in love and navigate the challenges of starting a family while still being legally tied to their ex-spouses. The film explores the harsh judgments that come with living in a blended family and the impact it has on their relationship.

Director Marla Ancheta shared that the idea for “Dearly Beloved” was inspired by the desire to create a modern version of “Relasyon” that would be relatable to present-day audiences. She emphasized the importance of casting actors who could embody the essence of Vilma and Christopher in today’s context.

For Baron and Cristine, the film’s theme of blended families hit close to home. Baron reflected on his own experience in a blended family, emphasizing the importance of maturity, understanding, and respect in making such relationships work. Meanwhile, Cristine shared her perspective on moving forward from the past and focusing on the present to create a better future.

“Dearly Beloved” is set to premiere on March 30 and also features a talented ensemble cast including Althea Ruedas, Phoebe Walker, JC Tiuseco, Robbie Watchel, and more. The film promises to delve into the complexities of blended families and the challenges they face, while also highlighting the importance of love, maturity, and faith in navigating such relationships.
