Aghon triggers Signal No. 1 in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon



Several areas in Luzon, including Metro Manila, have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 by the state weather bureau due to Tropical Depression Aghon. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), areas in Luzon may experience wind speeds of up to 39 to 61 kilometers per hour in at least 36 hours. The tropical depression has slightly weakened and was last located over the coastal waters of Sibuyan Island. It had maximum sustained winds of up to 45 kph and gusts of up to 70 kph, moving northwestward over the Sibuyan Sea. The affected areas include several provinces in Luzon, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and parts of Quezon, Camarines, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon. The situation continues to be monitored closely by Pagasa as residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions.
