New CPNP Acorda Outlines Priorities, Emphasizes Transparency and Unity in First Command Conference

The 29th Chief of the Philippine National Police, PGen Benjamin C Acorda Jr., has set his priorities and marching orders for the police organization.

In his first command conference on Tuesday with Regional Directors (RDs) and heads of National Support Units (NSUs), he emphasized the need to focus on the following: anti-illegal drugs, anti-insurgency, anti-terrorism, and cleansing the PNP ranks.

During the conference, the Chief PNP stressed the importance of transparency with the media, saying that what the police are doing should be made known to the public.

Furthermore, PGen Acorda Jr. directed the RDs and Director, NSUs to adopt an aggressive approach and focus on operations in line with the mission, vision, and functions of the PNP and the Philippines’ Development Plan for 2028.

Regarding the reshuffle in the PNP, PGen Acorda Jr. stated that everything would be done based on policy and guidelines, as well as qualifications based on merit, ability, capability, and moral ascendancy. He emphasized that the Selection and Placement Board (SPB) would be empowered to ensure that no rules are violated during the process.

PGen Acorda Jr. called for unity within the PNP organization and to be guided by the “Serbisyong Nagkakaisa”, the Peace and Order Framework under our call, a “UNIFIED PNP” in support to the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028. He encouraged commanders to treat everyone as a member of the family, and to punish personnel when they commit mistakes but not to shame or embarrass them. “Mas marami pa rin ang mabubuting pulis, and I want the people to know that”, CPNP Acorda said.

He urged everyone to change the old mindset that “for evil to succeed is for man to do nothing” to “do good things to defeat evil”, instead.

Lastly, CPNP Acorda also called for inter-agency coordination among government agencies, the community and the media, to combat crime and promote the country’s development. ” Iisa lang ang bansa natin, mahalin natin eto, magtulungan tayo.”, PGen Acorda said.
