1st.One Sets Itself Apart in the P-Pop Scene

The boys of the P-pop boy band 1st.One—composed of Alpha, J, Jayson, Joker, Max, and their leader Ace—have been making waves in the music industry with their unique sound and impressive achievements. Despite their similarities to conventional idol groups, 1st.One has managed to set itself apart from the rest of the P-pop crowd.

Their track “Shout Out,” produced by FirstOne Entertainment Corp. and released under Warner Music Philippines, showcases their genre-breaching style. The song’s success has earned 1st.One a spot in Billboard’s Hot Trending Chart, making them only the second P-pop group to achieve this feat, following in the footsteps of SB19.

In addition to their chart success, 1st.One made history as the first Filipino boy band to perform at the prestigious Seoul Music Awards in 2020. They shared the stage with top K-pop acts such as NCT Dream, Super Junior, Twice, Itzy, Red Velvet, and TXT, leaving a lasting impression on the crowd.

During an exclusive interview with the group and their general manager/mentor VJ Caber, 1st.One discussed what sets them apart from their P-pop peers. Ace attributed their success to their ability to come together as a cohesive team despite their different personalities. He emphasized the importance of consolidating their individual skills and showcasing diverse sounds, ranging from pop to hard hip-hop, similar to popular Kpop groups like Monsta X and BTS.

When asked about the surge and growth of P-pop on the global scene, Ace acknowledged the interconnectivity of different music genres but also highlighted the unique passion that comes through in P-pop performances. He praised Filipinos for their soulful style and emphasized how it sets P-pop apart from other genres.

The members of 1st.One also discussed how being part of the group has transformed them individually. Max shared how the group taught him to appreciate music on a deeper level, while Jay valued the brotherhood and camaraderie they developed. Alpha, Joker, and Jayson highlighted the discipline and patience they gained during the pandemic, which ultimately strengthened their bond as a team. Ace, who transitioned from a solo career to joining 1st.One, described the experience as a complete transformation that made him appreciate the work and dedication required to be an idol.

According to their manager, VJ, 1st.One is a group of exceptional performers who excel in both singing and choreography. Their high-energy performances resemble those of seasoned international dance groups, making them a sight to behold.

When discussing their songs, Ace cleared up any misconceptions about their track “You Are the One,” emphasizing that it carries a deeper meaning beyond a simple love song. The song represents their dreams and the challenges they faced during the pandemic. J also highlighted their latest single, “Oras,” as a reminder not to waste time on needless things.

With their unique sound, impressive achievements, and tight-knit bond as a group, it’s clear that 1st.One is making a name for themselves in the competitive P-pop scene. They continue to exceed expectations and leave their fans, known as ForOne, filled with pride.
