Police seize over P800,000 worth of shabu in Quezon City



A total of more than P800,000 worth of alleged shabu was confiscated by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) personnel in a series of buy-bust operations conducted from Monday to Wednesday, Jan. 22-24.

The QCPD Fairview Station (PS 5) identified one of the suspects as Fredmark Gicana, 36, a resident of Sta Monica, Novaliches, Quezon City.

According to PS 5, Tactical Motorcycle Riders Unit (TMRU) personnel who were conducting anti-criminality patrol along Commonwealth Avenue near Puregold North Commonwealth in Brgy. Greater Fairview at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, flagged down the motorcycle driven by Gicana after noticing a handgun tucked on his waist. Gicana attempted to flee but was immediately apprehended by the operatives. Seized from him were 70 grams of shabu worth P476,000.00, an Armscor cal. 45 pistol with one magazine, three cal. 45 ammunition, one handgun holster, a sling bag, two cellular phones, a weighing scale, and his Honda Click125i motorcycle.

In another buy-bust operation launched by the QCPD Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) in Barangay Bagbag, Joel David, 22, was arrested after selling P7,500 worth of shabu to an undercover officer. Seized from David were 25 grams of shabu valued at P170,000, a cellphone, a coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

Lastly, the QCPD Payatas Bagong Silangan Station (PS 13) apprehended Esmeraldo Masucol Medina, 31, and Joan Amongos Medina, 32, for allegedly peddling P238,000 worth of shabu in Barangay Payatas B. Confiscated from the Medinas were more or less 35 grams of shabu valued at P238,000, a coin purse, two cellular phones, and the buy-bust money.

All suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, the police said.
