PNP Museum Celebrates the Museums and Galleries Month

The PNP Museum celebrates the Museum and Galleries Month through an Art Exhibit underscoring the 4th Philippine Arts Summit’s theme, “Embracing Uncertainty: Showcasing Solidarity, Hope, and Recovery.” DILG Secretary, Atty. Benjamin C Abalos Jr. is the Guest of Honor and Speaker, together with Police Lieutenant General Rhodel O Sermonia, Officer-In-Charge, PNP, during the activity in Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City on October 20, 2022, Thursday.

This year’s celebration marks the 1st anniversary of the PNP Museum as an accredited and institutional member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), – a non-governmental organization which establishes professional and ethical standards for museum activities.

The highlight of the program is the Tagapagtaguyod ng Sining at Kultura ng Pilipinas (TSKP) Artists’ Exhibit anchored on the theme: “Binhi: Sining at Kultura Pamana ng Republika”, for the museum’s changing gallery. The Exhibit conveys the depicted artists’ messages and emotions through unique masterpieces, in a sense, propagating Philippine values, patriotism, and love of country.

Museums and Galleries Month is being observed in the month of October every year by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 798, series of 1991. This celebration showcases and promotes the essence of Museums in the Philippines as homes of Filipino culture, history, and heritage.

The PNP Museum has a preeminent accomplishment in collecting, curating, and ultimately preserving distinctive relics and artifacts from the past that form part of what and where the Philippine National Police is now, giving a significant avenue and opportunity to commemorate the courage and contributions of the men and women of PNP.

We are looking forward that this occasion will spark interest to the public onto its value not only to every relic and artifact the PNP Museum houses, but the stories behind every event and person that shaped the history of Philippine policing.
