PNP SAF Hosts Heroes Run in Laguna

In line with the Philippine National Police’s advocacy in promoting physical and mental wellness of every uniformed and non-uniformed personnel and to recognize all the modern heroes, a fun run dubbed as “Heroes Run: Be a Hero, Run with Heroes” was launched by the PNP SAF on Sunday morning in Greenfield City Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Deputy Chief PNP for Administration Police Lieutenant General Rhodel O Sermonia graced the event along with Director of PNP Special Action Force, PBGen Edgar Alan Okubo, and other PNP officials.

The Heroes Run which has four categories — 3-Kilometer, 5-Kilometer, 10-Kilometer and 21-kilometer footrace was participated by 4,741 runners nationwide from PNP, private sectors, youth, advocacy group and schools in Laguna. Said event was conducted simultaneously in all SAF Battalions from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The event aims to assist the Revitalized-Pulis Sa Barangay (R-PSB) program and initiatives in localities throughout the nation that are located in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs).

The Heroes Run for a cause was a joint project in partnership with Miranda Run Events as organizer along with Subic May Metropolitan Authority (SBMA); Olongapo Runners Club; Stairway Footwear; Tourism Department; Law Enforcement Department; DMFagz, GBS Graphic Services; Zoobic Safari; MSK; Batas Eagles Club and other stakeholders.

“Security threat brought by these Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) is just among the many critical challenges that our government, in particular the security sector and law enforcement agencies are dealing with. We hope that through this event we can totally eradicate local communist terrorist groups in the country by strengthening appropriate mechanisms and initiate better peace and development activities particularly to conflict-affected communities” PLTGen Sermonia said.
