Philippines issues note verbale to China following Ayungin clash

The Philippines has lodged a protest against China’s actions in impeding the delivery of supplies to a Philippine military outpost in the West Philippine Sea. Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo announced the protest, highlighting the commitment to peace and stability while asserting the country’s sovereign rights. The Philippines condemned China’s aggressive behavior in Ayungin Shoal, which led to injuries among Philippine Navy personnel. The narrative in the West Philippine Sea has been clouded by disinformation and cyberattacks, according to Manalo, who praised the media for shedding light on the situation. The Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of National Defense are cautioning against falling for China’s propaganda and false narratives. Meanwhile, the Philippine government is exploring both official and unofficial channels to address tensions with China in the region. National Security Council assistant director general Jonathan Malaya assured that efforts will continue to maintain supply missions to the military outpost in Ayungin Shoal.
