Pagasa forecasts rainy weather in Bicol region caused by northeast monsoon or amihan

Regions in the Bicol area of the Philippines have suspended classes due to heavy rains and a jeepney strike, Inquirer reported.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) stated that most parts of the country are experiencing overcast skies with chances of rain showers due to the northeast monsoon or amihan affecting Northern and Central Luzon, as well as easterlies affecting the rest of the country.

Weather specialist Grace Castañeda mentioned that the Bicol Region will experience high chances of rain, while Northern Luzon and Central Luzon will have slight rains. Visayas and Mindanao will also have isolated rains and thunderstorms caused by easterlies.

According to Castañeda, there are no weather disturbances or low-pressure areas expected to affect the country, and no gale warnings have been issued for any seaboards.
