Meralco cautious of strong SMB team

In a thrilling Game 1 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals, Meralco emerged victorious over San Miguel Beer, making them the only team that the powerhouse Beermen have not defeated throughout the conference. Despite this accomplishment, Meralco remains focused and determined as they head into Game 2.

Meralco’s ace player, Chris Newsome, acknowledged the capabilities of San Miguel Beer, citing their impressive track record and past comebacks, such as the famous ‘Beeracle’ in 2016. He emphasized the importance of staying humble and focused in the face of such a formidable opponent.

Coach Luigi Trillo echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for preparation and a focused mindset heading into the crucial second match. The Bolts are aiming to maintain their momentum from their Game 1 victory and earlier win against SMB in the elimination round.

On the other hand, San Miguel Beer is quickly shifting their focus to Game 2, acknowledging the tough challenge ahead in the series. Star player CJ Perez emphasized the importance of looking forward and remaining committed to the longer series ahead.

The stage is set for an intense showdown in Game 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with both teams gearing up for a fierce battle on the court. With both sides eager to secure a victory, fans can expect an exciting and competitive matchup between Meralco and San Miguel Beer.
