Filipino-American model Kelsey Merritt turned heads on the red carpet at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. She graced the premiere of “Marcello Mio,” a competing film at the renowned annual event, as a guest of luxury brand Kilian Paris. Merritt donned a chic black dress with a plunging neckline designed by Carolina Herrera, accentuated with jewelry from Tiffany and Co.
Several Filipino artists also made appearances at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, including beauty queens Pia Wurtzbach Jauncey and Kylie Verzosa. Verzosa made a statement by walking the red carpet three times, mirroring her impressive debut at Cannes last year. Other Filipino actors spotted at the festival include Shain Magdayao, Xian Lim, Jericho Rosales, and Ruby Ruiz.
Merritt made history as the first Filipina to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which is making its return this year after a six-year hiatus. The 77th Cannes Film Festival, under the direction of “Barbie” filmmaker Greta Gerwig, will continue until May 25. The festival features 22 films vying for the prestigious Palme d’Or, with notable entries such as Francis Ford Coppola’s “Megalopolis,” Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Kinds of Kindness,” and Sean Baker’s “Anora.”
