K-pop idol and actor Hwang Min-hyun delighted Filipino fans with a memorable night of music and conversation in Manila. The former member of boy bands NU’EST and Wanna One, who is now pursuing a solo career, held his “2023 Hwang Min-hyun Mini Concert ‘Unveil’ in Manila” on October 8th at the New Frontier Theater.
During a press conference held on October 7th at Novotel Manila Araneta City, Hwang Min-hyun expressed his excitement to be back in Manila, stating, “It’s been a while since I visited Manila.” Opening his concert with the song “Hidden Side,” he performed a variety of other songs such as “Honest,” “Earphone,” “So Beautiful,” and more.
The mini-concert also featured several segments, including the “Timing Game,” where scenes from Hwang Min-hyun’s dramas and music videos were shown. As a penalty, he wore cute headbands and posed for the fans. He also danced to NewJeans’ hit song “Super Shy.” In the segment titled “Hwang Min-hyun’s Music Album Season 2,” he acted as a DJ and read letters from fans.
Throughout the concert, Hwang Min-hyun showcased his vocal prowess by performing popular tracks like “Back in Time” and “Crazy.” Expressing his gratitude to the audience for their continuous support, he said, “Thank you so much for your unwavering support. It hasn’t been long since I had my first concert in Seoul last August. And now here we are in October here in Manila. This summer was a big opportunity given to me through this concert tour where I was able to meet my Hwangdos in different cities across Asia.”
During the press conference, Hwang Min-hyun answered questions about his career and personal life. When asked about his music, he expressed his desire to continue making music for a long time, stating, “I still have many things that I wish to unveil for you guys. Please look forward to what I have to prepare in the future.”
Regarding his roles in dramas, Hwang Min-hyun stated that he doesn’t have any specific role preferences but enjoys the process of studying and getting involved in new characters. He also shared a memorable moment from filming the drama “My Lovely Liar,” describing a camping scene where the director encouraged them to feel relaxed and at home.
Hwang Min-hyun revealed his love for travel and expressed his dream of going on a world tour. He also mentioned his desire to visit Boracay in the Philippines, a place known for its beautiful sunsets. Additionally, he expressed an interest in studying photography.
In terms of the differences between preparing for activities as a singer and an actor, Hwang Min-hyun explained that as a singer, it takes months of preparation and external help from the music video director and staff. As an actor, he takes it upon himself to be prepared in advance, and the synergy comes naturally when filming starts.
