CIA staff with a BA degree honor the birthday of the late Rene ‘Compañero’ Cayetano



The public service program ‘CIA with BA’ recently honored the late Senator Rene Cayetano, father of hosts Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano, along with Boy Abunda. The episode, which aired on Sunday, Dec. 17, paid tribute to Senator Cayetano through a spoken word poetry delivered by Juan Miguel Severo. The poetry highlighted Senator Cayetano’s leadership, contributions to society, and fatherhood.

During the episode, Kuya Alan expressed how much his father would have appreciated the tribute, stating, “Sa lahat ng kilala si Tatay, he would have really appreciated it dahil may naiwan pala siya na nakatulong sa next generation.” Ate Pia also shared her pride in her father, saying, “He loved being with people. Passionate talaga siya to be with different people, to be part of different groups, to be a mover, and to get to know them… we’re very proud.”

Senator Cayetano, also known as “Compañero,” was born on Dec. 12, 1934. He was a renowned lawyer who gained fame through his radio and TV program ‘Compañero y Compañera,’ which aired from 1997 to 2001. He died of cancer in 2003 at the age of 68.

The program ‘CIA with BA’ and its producers from Infinite Monkeys Digital PR Communications also celebrated the nomination of ‘Compañero: Remembering Sen. Rene Cayetano (Christmas Special)’ as Best TV Special at the 45th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA).

The public is encouraged not to miss ‘CIA with BA’ with Alan, Pia, and Boy every Sunday at 11 p.m. on GMA7.
