Actress Yasmien Kurdi recently shared a health update on her mother Miriam, who recently got discharged from the hospital and is now waiting for a kidney donor. Yasmien expressed her gratitude towards the medical staff at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) for taking care of her mother. She shared photos from her mother’s recent stay at the hospital, but chose to cover her mother’s face with emoji stickers.
Yasmien also informed her followers that her mother will undergo hemodialysis while waiting for a kidney donor. Hemodialysis is a procedure that filters waste, salts, and fluid from the blood when the kidneys are unable to do so effectively. Yasmien ended her post with various hashtags, including “life goes on” and “keep the faith.”
Fellow actress Chynna Ortaleza and several netizens sent well-wishes for the speedy recovery of Yasmien’s mother.
In a 2014 interview with a Philippine newspaper, Yasmien revealed that she took a two-year hiatus from showbiz in order to prioritize her family and study nursing to help her mother with her kidney problem. Yasmien stated that her family always comes first and that she wanted to be knowledgeable about medical conditions so she could take care of her mother as she aged.
