Victims of Typhoon Aghon receive P3.6M in aid from DSWD



The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided over P3.6 million in assistance to families affected by Typhoon Aghon (international name: Ewiniar), the agency announced on Thursday.

According to DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, the aid has been distributed to affected families in five regions across Luzon and Visayas.

Dumlao stated that more than 36,500 families, totaling over 128,500 individuals, were impacted by the typhoon, with around 650 families, or 2,320 individuals, seeking refuge in evacuation centers.

In addition to financial assistance, DSWD field offices are also distributing food packs to affected families, with recent efforts providing hot meals to stranded passengers in different ports in Albay on May 26.
