Tom Rodriguez eagerly anticipates his return in three upcoming projects

Actor Tom Rodriguez is making a comeback in the entertainment industry with not just one but three projects lined up for him. After a two-year hiatus following a controversial breakup with ex-wife Carla Abellana, Tom is back to acting in a serial soap, a stage musical, and a dramatic film.

In a recent story conference and media gathering for Joel Lamangan’s romantic drama “Huwag Mo Kong Iwan,” Tom expressed his excitement to return to work. He shared, “Yes, I’m here to stay. To be honest, I’m feeling nervous right now. I’ve had this feeling since I began working on an episode for ‘Magpakailanman.’ Just like in that show, I trust everyone I’m with. I’m willing to throw myself into work again and ride that wave.”

Tom’s last appearance on the big screen was in the 2019 horror film “Maledicto” by Mark Meily, and on TV, he was part of Dominic Zapata’s drama “The World Between Us.” Now, he is set to star in Joel Lamangan’s “Huwag Mo Kong Iwan,” a socially relevant romantic drama featuring Tom alongside Rhian Ramos and JC de Vera.

According to scriptwriter Eric Ramos, the concept for the film came from director Joel Lamangan and blends elements of romance and comedy with socially relevant themes. “Huwag Mo Kong Iwan” follows the story of Lala, played by Rhian Ramos, who is forced to choose between two men after landing in jail in Manila.

Tom is also set to take on the role of Crisostomo Ibarra in the restaging of Tanghalang Una Obra’s musical “Ibarra.” He shared his excitement for these new projects, stating, “I’m happy and thankful that blessings have been coming nonstop since I came back. ‘Ibarra’ is a really big musical, and I’m excited to attend voice training.”

As Tom prepares for his upcoming projects, he is familiarizing himself with the iconic character of Ibarra from Jose Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere.” He expressed feeling the pressure of portraying a character that is well-known in Filipino literature.
