Showrunner of HBO’s ‘House of The Dragon’ confirms involvement in Season 3 production.

Ahead of the premiere of “House of the Dragon” Season 2 on Monday, June 17, showrunner Ryan Condal announced that preparations are already underway for Season 3.

HBO has officially renewed the historical fantasy-action series, which is based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood” novel, for a third season.

Francesca Orsi, executive vice president for HBO Programming and head of HBO Drama Series and Films, commended the team for their efforts on Season 2, stating, “We could not be more thrilled to continue the story of House Targaryen and watch this team burn bright again for Season 3.”

“House of the Dragon” delves into the history of the House Targaryen 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones.” The series made a significant impact upon its release in 2022, breaking viewership records and becoming the most-watched HBO title in several regions.

During a recent virtual interview with the international press, Condal reflected on the achievements of Season 1 and teased the new elements that will be introduced in Season 2. He also discussed the challenges of filming such a complex show and working with George R.R. Martin.

As production for Season 3 continues, fans can anticipate a broader narrative and the exploration of new worlds and characters in the upcoming episodes. Despite the long hiatus between seasons, Condal hopes that the show will remain a special event for viewers and that fans will eagerly anticipate each new installment.
