Quezon Tangerines to showcase skills in Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association

Quezon Province Set to Join Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association

Quezon Province is gearing up to make its mark in the Maharlika Pilipinas Volleyball Association (MPVA) with the introduction of the Quezon Tangerines team. Led by the powerhouse core of three-time NCAA champion College of St. Benilde, the Tangerines will be the newest addition to the upcoming second season of the volleyball league.

Following the success of the Quezon Huskers in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), with a perfect 12-0 record, the province is now turning its focus to volleyball. Governor Dr. Helen Tan expressed excitement for the Tangerines, emphasizing the support from the Quezon community and their determination to win against rival cities and provinces.

St. Benilde head coach Jerry Yee will be guiding the Tangerines, with players like Mycah Go, Zamantha Nolasco, and Wielyn Estoque among the key names in the team. The roster also includes eight homegrown players from various towns in Quezon, selected through a tryout conducted by Yee himself.

With a successful track record at St. Benilde, including a three-peat title feat in the NCAA, Yee is confident that the Tangerines will be competitive in the MPVA. Backed by Strong Group Athletics, the team aims to bring the same winning culture to Quezon.

The inaugural season of the MPVA saw Bacoor emerge as the champions, with teams like Negros and Marikina finishing as runner-up and third-placer respectively. As Quezon joins the league, fans can expect an exciting display of talent and determination from the Tangerines as they aim to make their mark in the volleyball scene.
