Piolo Pascual and Dingdong Dantes clinch Film Actor of the Year award

Two Filipino Actors Win Film Actor of the Year Award

Kapamilya star Piolo Pascual and Kapuso star Dingdong Dantes were recently awarded the Film Actor of the Year accolade for their outstanding performances in the movies “Mallari” and “Rewind” at the Box Office Entertainment Awards presented by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation (GMMSF), Inc.

Piolo’s victory marks his second Best Actor recognition, adding to his win at the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) earlier this year in Hollywood, USA. Meanwhile, Vilma Santos was named as the Film Actress of the Year.

At the event, Piolo, accompanied by Mentorque producer John Bryan Diamante, executive producer Rona Banaag, and director Derick Cabrido, accepted the prestigious award for his role in “Mallari,” an official entry to the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The film delves into the story of Fr. Juan Severino Mallari, the Philippines’ documented serial killer from the 19th century.

The success of “Mallari” has led to numerous opportunities for collaborations, including Mentorque Productions’ upcoming project at the 2024 Cinemalaya Film Festival. The film is also set to make its debut on Netflix on June 21.

In addition, “Mallari” has received 14 out of 18 nominations at the upcoming FAMAS Awards night. The nominations include Best Actor, Best Picture, Best Director, and various technical categories.

Piolo’s producer, John Bryan Diamante, has expressed excitement over the multiple nominations and the upcoming release of “Mallari” on Netflix. The film’s success continues to garner recognition and accolades months after its initial premiere.
