Pagasa forecasts 47°C heat in Tuguegarao City and Casiguran on June 15.



Tuguegarao City and Casiguran town in Aurora are expected to experience a 47-degree Celsius heat index on Saturday, June 15, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Twenty-six other areas nationwide are likewise forecast to feel the hot weather at dangerous levels on Saturday, based on Pagasa’s latest bulletin. These include Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Aparri, Cagayan; Baler (Radar), Aurora; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Calayan, Cagayan; ISU Echague, Isabela; Infanta, Quezon; Daet, Camarines Norte; Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; Catarman, Northern Samar; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; NVSU Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; and Masbate City, Masbate.

Heat indices from 42 degrees Celsius to 51 degrees Celsius fall under the “danger” category, and people in affected areas are advised to take precautions such as staying hydrated, wearing heat-protective clothing, and seeking cool areas to avoid heat-related illnesses.
