New police and fire station revealed in Makati

Local Government of Makati Unveils New Police and Fire Stations

The local government of Makati recently introduced its new police and fire stations in one of the city’s commercial villages. Makati Mayor Abby Binay led the ceremonial opening of the Makati Central Police Station on Malugay Street and the Makati Central Fire Station on Buendia Avenue, both located in Barangay San Antonio.

One notable feature of these new facilities is the installation of solar panels, which align with Makati’s ongoing efforts towards renewable energy. Mayor Binay emphasized the importance of including solar panels in the design of both buildings.

The three-story police station, spanning 3,249 square meters, boasts a secure detention cell equipped with closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) and a fire detection and alarm system. On the other hand, the three-story fire station, covering 1,778 square meters, can accommodate up to four fire trucks in its parking bay and features a fire pole.

Mayor Binay expressed pride in providing the police and fire departments with modern resources to enhance their service delivery in the city. She stressed that this investment reflects the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of Makati’s residents and stakeholders.

These new facilities are seen as a symbol of the city’s dedication to protecting its citizens and ensuring a swift response in times of need. According to the 2015 Census of Population released by the Philippine Statistics Authority, these developments will benefit 16,524 residents in San Antonio, constituting 2.89 percent of Makati’s population.

Barangay San Antonio is known for its commercial land use, characterized by a wide array of business establishments, according to the local government website. The introduction of the new police and fire stations represents a significant step towards enhancing public safety and emergency response in Makati.
