Meralco Bolts secure finals berth, dethrone Barangay Ginebra

In a thrilling showdown in Batangas, the Meralco Bolts clinched their first-ever Philippine Cup finals berth after defeating Barangay Ginebra in Game 7, 78-69. The Bolts staged a remarkable comeback, erasing an 11-point deficit with a strong performance in the second half.

Led by Chris Banchero and Chris Newsome, who scored 24 and 20 points respectively, the Bolts outplayed Ginebra in a tense matchup. The team’s defense was instrumental in their victory, holding Ginebra to their lowest quarter output in the playoffs.

This breakthrough comes after years of falling short in the semifinals, with the Bolts reaching the last three Philippine Cup semifinals only to falter. Now, they are set to face off against San Miguel Beer in the championship series, with a chance to claim their first-ever title in franchise history. The Bolts will look to continue their impressive run and make their mark in the PBA.
